After graduation he immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. It was after one of being enlisted and stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC that Darnnelle acknowledged and accepted the call to ministry.  In 2002, Darnnelle became an ordained Elder in the Church of Christ Disciples of Christ organization.   This was under the leadership of Bishop Johnnie Givian Sr., who is the Presiding Prelate of East Coast Jurisdiction. Elder Ellison has consistently worked and studied to show himself approved a workman that needs not be ashamed of what he has committed his hands too.

Elder Ellison has a diploma in Religious Education from the East Coast Disciples Institute and a certificate in Biblical Studies from Oral Roberts Bible Institute.  After many years of serving in ministry and serving in the Lords church, Elder Ellison accepted the Executive Pastor position at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville, TN.  Pastor Ellison serves under the leadership and direction of Bishop Anthony Glover.

Pastor Ellison presently resides in Nashville, TN and works as a leasing consultant for two mid-size properties in the Antioch, TN area.  Pastor Ellison has a passion for helping in and outside the walls of the church.  He understands that real ministry is what happens after the benediction of the most controversial and segregated two hours on Sunday morning. The church is the salt of the earth and understands that church has to maintain a relevant seasoning in the community.
